Forthcoming conferences

An interesting looking conference has just been announced on The International implementation of electronic health records and another on Healthcare Informatics is being organised by the Health Service Journal.

The International implementation of electronic health records is being organised by The Centre for Research on Families and Relationships (CRFR) at The University of Edinburgh and Imperial College London. It will be held on 26 October 2010 in London.

Key Speakers Include:

* Professor David Bates, Harvard School of Public Health, USA
* Professor Trisha Greenhalgh, Queen Mary, University of London
* Professor Aziz Sheikh, The University of Edinburgh
* Dr Brian Robson, Quality Improvement Scotland
* Dr Gwyn Thomas, CIO, Welsh Assembly Government (NHS Wales)
* Ms Heather O'Brien, Director of Information Systems, Royal Free Hospital
* Professor Jeremy Wyatt, Warwick University
* Professor Ken Eason, Loughborough University & The Bayswater Institute
* Professor Denis Protti, University of Victoria, Canada
* Professor Aidan Halligan, Chief of Safety, Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals
* Professor Chris Johnson, University of Glasgow

A two day event, also in London, being organised by the Health Service Journal includes, on the 23rd November 2010, "A practical guide to data and healthcare information technology" covering the fundamentals of informatics and on 24th November "Healthcare Informatics 2010: Reducing costs and raising quality of care through effective healthcare informatics".

These both look as if they will be interesting events and I am unsure which to submit papers for or attend. As I will be at Medinfo in South Africa in September it is unlikely I will get time or money from my employers for both.
